There is no official set of scent profiles, but the most well-established authorities for "olfactory families" are considered La Societe Francaise des Perfumeurs and Michael Edwards' "Fragrances of the World."  We use the fragrance wheel created by Michael Edwards as a reference point when formulating new candle scents as well as describing the current ones.
